Hants AA Track & Field Champs, Mountbatten Centre, Portsmouth

JAMILLE HOGG was one of Stubbington's star performers at the two-day Hampshire AA Track & Field Championships, staged at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth.

The teenager, competing in the under-20 400m finished second in a time of 52.24sec, behind winner, Glyn Hawkes from Haslemere, who won in 50.38sec. Jamille was involved in a tight tussle for the silver medal, and managed to outdip Basingstoke & Mid Hant's Nick Bates to edge the North Hampshire runner out by just one hundredth of a second.

Becky Gough, running in Team Southampton colours, but who still trains with Stubbington's Penny Forse, finished third in both the under-17 800m and 1500m. Over the two-lap distance, the youngster clocked 2min 17.46sec in a blanket finish to finish just behind Team Southampton winner, Louise Webb, who recorded a time of 2:16.94.

Over the metric mile, Aldershot, Farnham & District's Charlotte Purdue, who took second place in the 800m, made amends with a winning time of 4:40.21, with Becky third in 4:42.40 - another close finish.
