Duck Pond Waddle
ZIPPY GRICE made it a hat-trick of wins at a mud-strewn Duck Pond Waddle.
The Zip-meister has made this 15km race his own in recent years, which is based at Ferring near Worthing and organised by Worthing Striders.
After heavy overnight rain, the farm and woodland course was pretty tough, and very muddy - it was a case of shake, waddle and go!
Zippy was first home to finish ahead of Stubbington team-mate Alasdair Ewing who apparently got himself pretty muddy after one fall. He finished first in just 57 minutes 28sec with Alasdair second two minutes behind in 59:34. An unfit Chris Hall, who was using the race as a training run, coasted home in seventh in 1hr 3min 11sec.
Andy Lee's time of 1:15.10 was two minutes quicker than a year ago for 50th place and just over a minute behind was team-mate Neil Jarvis, 59th in 1:16.38. Steve Wylie clocked in with 137th position in 1:23.57.
There was a fair sprinkling of ladies who took part with Kathy McCain, Kay Sadler and Tracie Jarvis sticking close together. Kathy was the first of the trio in 177th with 1:43.30, Kay was next in 178th with 1:43.33 and Tracie placed 179th in 1:44.01. Caroline Street worked her way through the mud for 182nd in 1:45.14.
A total of 223 runners took part with Caroline Hoyte from Run Store the first lady to finish in a time of 1hr 5min 46sec for 14th overall.
