January Diary

HAVE you got a ticket to Ryde?!! Well, you should do if you are planning ahead for your races in January.

The Hampshire Road Race League ventures into new territory in the New Year with the Ryde 10 on Sunday, January 28th.

Traditionally, the Brading 10km race in June staged the Isle of Wight event in the series, but after last summer's HRRL annual meeting Brading's got the bullet and Ryde is in.

This is only the second year of the race, replacing Ryde Harriers' summer 10 miler which had been going for 20 years.

The start and finishing is by the boating lake, about five minutes from the catamaran and hovercraft terminal. Wightlink normally do a two people for £10 deal from Southsea at this time of year, although it might be a little choppy.

The Ryde 10 is one of two HRRL events taking place in January - the other being our very own Stubbington 10km on January 14th.

The Hampshire Cross Country Championships have moved from Staunton Park to Basingstoke this year, and during January there are also Hampshire Cross Country League, Wessex League and Today's Runners events.

So if you are sifting through races to run in the New Year, then check out the January diary.
