David Lloyd 5km, 12th Feb 2006

UNIVERSITY of Portsmouth maths student, Chris Munro, got his figures right at the David Lloyd 5km road race in Southampton.

The youngster, who is in his final year of studies at uni, was among a field of 182 runners who took part in the race which was staged by the Nursling-based health and fitness club.

Chris has continued to improve this season. Last August at the Portsmouth Promenade 5km Series, Chris clocked 22min 50sec. On Sunday, he finished 53rd in a very respectable time of 21:41.

Also taking part in the race as part of speed training towards the London Marathon was Jon Leigh. He finished 35th in 19:46, which earned him sixth fastest veterans in the V40 category.

The race attracted a good quality field, with Winchester's Matthew King leading the field home in 16:01, and Southampton Running Club's Amy Campbell winning the ladies event in 18:10.
