Stubbington Green Runners

Clarendon Way Marathon, 1st October 2006

HOW do you fancy running a marathon this autumn? Okay, not a full marathon. Well, not even a half marathon - more like 10km, as part of a marathon relay team.

Caroline Street is organising a Stubbington team to compete in October's Clarendon Way Marathon and is looking for any willing runners.

The race takes place on Sunday, October 1st,, with the marathon starting at Winchester College and venturing along the historic Clarendon Way to Salisbury , finishing at the Five Rivers Leisure Centre.

This is a well-organised race, across a challenging multi-terrain course. The relay is for mixed teams of four, and last year Stubbington fielded two teams. Caroline competed in the marathon finishing 42nd in 5hrs 9min 24sec, while Barry Hards finished third over the 26.2 miles in 3:02.37 to win the Vet45 category.

If you are interested in making up a Stubbington quartet, then contact Caroline on 01329-845330. Caroline is collecting a list of those interested, so there may be a possibility of several teams taking part.

Besides the full and relay marathons, which both start at 10.30am, there is also a half marathon from Broughton to Salisbury , with a 12 noon start.
