Stubbington Green Runners

Brading 10k

HAVE you ever dreamt of embarking on a cruise to a far-away island where the air is fresh and the sand is as white as the driven snow?Throw in a run that takes you through the beautiful countryside of said island, and you're into the realms of a perfect paradise!

Well, that island is not as far away as you might have first thought - in fact, you don't even have to leave the county to get to it.

Yes, the island is, of course, the Isle of Wight, and the run in question is the highly esteemed Brading 10km.

This year's race takes place on Sunday, June 18th with an 11am start and it is the final Hampshire Road Race League race this season.

The race is organised by Ryde Harriers ( www.rydeharriers.co.uk ) who provide transport from the Wighlink Catamaran's 8.50am and 9.20am sailings from Portsmouth, which are at a specially reduced rate for race day. You can get hold of an entry form by logging onto the Ryde Harriers website.

As generous as ever, Stubbington Green will be giving each of its members £10 so that their dream can become a reality. It makes Uncle Jimmy's fix-its looks downright ordinary!

Put June 18th down in the diary for Brading if you can make it.

Before then, the penultimate Hampshire Road Race League event is at Alton on May 14th - for the Alton 10 miler. Based at the Lord Treloar College, this starts at 10.30am. There are entries on the day, but why not enter in advance?

For more details log onto www.hrrl.org.uk/ where you can get hold of an entry form.
