HOT cross buns and jars of honey - what next as race mementoes? Stubbington's Tor Duffin found that he got more than the usual boring medal and t-shirt when taking part in the Benson 10km race in Oxfordshire.
The race is based in the village of Benson, south-east of Abingdon and is a rural point-to-point race with the incentive of hot cross buns and jars of honey for all finishers.
Tor, who is clearly a man in form, needed no stopping and took his place on the starting line among 284 runners. A week after taking fourth place at the White Horse Half Marathon in Oxfordshire, the 27-year-old Stubbington runner set his sights on this 10km race...and once again finished fourth.
This time he clocked 34min 59sec for the distance, finishing a couple of minutes behind winner Christopher Dettmar from Headington Road Runners, who won in 32:47. Sarah Paradine from Alchester Runners, which are based in Bicester, Oxfordshire, was the first lady home in 41:42.
