Andy Reading 10km
JON Leigh is getting back to his best. After a summer interupted by injury, Jon has been training well lately and was rewarded with an impressive time at the Andy Reading 10km race in Oxfordshire.
He finished 77th in the race with a time of 42min 24sec (Jon reckons his time was a fair few seconds faster than that!), a good minute faster than Jon had been budgeting for, and two minutes faster than his time at Denmead 10km in October.
Jon said afterwards that he was very pleased with the run on a course which he described as ideal for a personal best.
This popular pre-Christmas race is organised jointly by Bicester AC and Alchester RC, with the proceeds shared with local charity. It has a flat, fast course, and apparently the best bacon butties in Oxfordshire.
A total of 412 runners took part in the race at Bicester which was won by Dan Merkel from Oxford City AC in a time of 32min 29sec. Liz Hartney from Reading Road Runners finished in a strong 13th place to lead the ladies home in a time of 37:33.
