Southern Road Relays
THE RUSHMOOR Arena at Aldershot plays host later this month to the Southern Road Relays - and Stubbington are hoping to field several teams there.
The prestigious two-day event, with racing for men on the Saturday and for the women on the Sunday, takes place this year on Saturday, September 24th and Sunday, September 25th , attracting many of the top clubs from across the region.
The club is hoping to field at least four men's teams in Saturday's races.
Runners are being sought to compete in an over-40s vets' quartet, plus over-50s and over-60s squads. Each member of the four-man team runs 6km, with the veterans' race starting at 12.30pm .
That is followed by the seniors' race at 2.30pm which will be made up of six legs of 6km.
Club organiser, Mike Harper said: "We are looking to try to send at least one team in each category this year. If there is enough interest we will take a minibus and possibly stop on the way back!
"We have had interest from runners in all age categories, so please phone and help complete the team.
"It is a really good club day out. You don't need to be super quick, just capable of getting round 6,000 metres. Perhaps if we can fill all age groups, we could get someone clever to work out our best team, based on age grades"
