Cross Country

GET out those running spikes, the cross country season is just around the corner. Stubbington will once again be entering teams in the Hampshire Cross Country, Wessex Cross Country and Today's Runner leagues. 

The Hampshire Cross Country League gets under way at Farley Mount in Winchester on Saturday, October 8th, with races from under-13s over 2.4km and 3km, to the men's races over 10km. Venues listed below:

If Saturdays are filled with working, shopping, watching football, or queuing for your National Lottery ticket, then Sundays offer the Wessex Cross Country League.

This year's programme begins on October 16th in Glastonbury, the home of the muddy music festival, and the plush surroundings of Millfield School.

The afternoon races range from mixed under-11s to men's and women. Venues listed below:

And if that's not enough for a Sunday, the Today's Runner series offers another offering of cross country excess. Here, the racing remains competitive, but the atmosphere is relaxed, and runners who for men have not run faster than 5.40mins/mile in a competitive road race, or 6.15mins/mile for women. There are 16 competing clubs in the league, drawn from across Hampshire.

The first race takes place on October 30th, and will be organised by Liss Runners. This takes place at Rogate Common, north of Rogate. Venues listed below:

All races start at 11am, and Stubbington hosts its race at Manor Farm Country Park in Bursledon on January 29th.
